12-Year-Old Indian Girl Neha Ramu Has Higher IQ Than Einstein, Hawking

Neha Ramu, 13, is like any other girl her age: She loves friends, movies and Harry Potter. Lately, however, Ramu — a native of Bangalore, India, who now lives in London — has risen to celebrity status, at least in intellectual circles. She recently achieved the highest possible IQ (Intelligence Quotient) score — 162 — for people under 18 in the Mensa Test run by Mensa International, a society of people with high IQs. British newspapers gushed that she had trumped theoretical physicists Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking, who are thought to have IQs of 160 (an average IQ score is between 85 and 114; 144 or above is considered genius-level).
What does someone who has been elevated to genius status do first? Read a biography of Albert Einstein, of course. “He changed the world with his theories,” says Ramu, a student at Tiffin Girls’ School in Kinston upon Thames. “I never thought about being smarter than Einstein; I know I am not.”
“I had always thought I would find a cure for cancer, but now I may try to find cures for other brain-related diseases.”
She is, however, above average – and ambitious. This year, Ramu scored a 740 out of 800 on the math SAT, the standardized test for college admissions in the U.S. That won her a seat in the “Study of Exceptional Talent” program offered by the Center for Talented Youth (CTY) at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md. She has been a CTY member for a few years and attended a three-week summer course in Baltimore last year on “Sensation and Perception.” She has completed several Johns Hopkins online courses in math and science.

Curing Cancer and The Hunger Games
Last summer’s Johns Hopkins course led to other, longer-term plans. Ramu now wants to be a neuroscientist — a specialist who studies the structure and function of the brain and nervous system. That is a change from what she had originally planned for a career. “I had always thought I would find a cure for cancer, but now I may try to find cures for other brain-related diseases,” notes Ramu.
Ramu says that her parents, who are ophthalmologists, have inspired her. “They are both extremely hard working,” she says. “They sometimes miss their dinner because they are too engrossed in their work. My dad came from India [to the United Kingdom in 2007], worked hard and within a year or so made a very comfortable life for me and my mum.”
Life for Ramu is not all brain analytics and IQ scores. She also spends time reading, watching TV and swimming. Recent titles added to her bookshelf are The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho, and The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. In addition, she has also started to learn about space and astronomy, thanks to an online Johns Hopkins course she is taking on earth and space sciences. She plans to join the Army Cadet Force, a British youth organization that focuses on military and adventure-based training. And now that she is 13, she is designing her first Facebook profile. Friends, not test scores, will keep her grounded, says Ramu. “My friends began treating me like I knew everything in the world” after the Mensa news hit the papers, she says. “Eventually, they realized the achievement hasn’t changed me.”

Article for AIIMS, NEET drop out repeaters: Tips and Suggestions

The article for all the students who have taken a year drop to try their luck once more to get selected in medical entrance examinations or those who are depressed and disheartened on not being able to pursue their dream of becoming a doctor this time and confused whether to risk a year for fulfilling their dream or to join a regular degree programme .
Tips and Suggestions
*NCERT ARE THE BASIC AND MUST BOOKS FOR PREPARATION.LEARN BIOLOGY AND CHEMISTRY NCERT ON FINGERTIPS.
*DO MAXIMUM NO. OF QUESTIONS AND PREVIOUS YEAR QUESTION PAPERS AS MANY AS YOU CAN.
1.Identify your mistakes which you committed last year..What was the reason behind you being not selected in the exam. Whether you did not study or you did not study from the point of view of a competitive exam or you did not know what to study or you did not solve the previous years papers.
2. Learn from your mistakes. Making mistakes is not a major issue but repeating them will always prevent you from success. This rule applies everywhere in life.So rectify them and don’t repeat this time.
3. Don’t lose hope..have faith in your self and prepare yourself for one year of hardwork and 100% devotion.
4. If you really want to be a doctor, develop qualities that are the trademark of a doctor- hard work, determination, consistency and patience. There is no alternative to hard work, not even smart study as the latter too requires a lot of hard work.
5. Smart study - It is very important to note that you are not doing a PhD but are preparing for the medical entrances examination. You just have to study what ever is asked in the examination after all whatever you will be studying has no use in the profession you are opting for. It is a habit prevalent among many students to study from a high level book and flaunting the same in front of their friends and teachers to gain popularity in the class. First, it is of no use and second, it leads to wastage of time and may also hamper your success in the exam.

Q. It would be my third attempt for pre-medical tests. I have been preparing for medical entrances since I was in class 11th. I have even studied H.C. Verma, Resnik-Halliday  for physics, Neil Campbell for Biology and Deb Mukherjee for chemistry, but still I am unable to get through medical entrances. What more do I need to study?
Ans.  First, you need to bust this myth that the syllabus of PMTs demands solving  questions from very high-level books that are mostly read by the engineering aspirants. The level of questions in physics and chemistry is very low as compared to those asked in IIT-JEE. In PMTs, questions are simple and formula based but time is less and also the cut-off goes very high. So the examination paper demands you to be thorough with your concepts and the formulae should be on your finger tips. Solving from ultra-advanced and high level books is sheer wastage of time.
However , some questions from physics and chemistry which have earlier been asked in IIT JEE are repeated in PMTs especially BHU (Pre and Mains) and such questions can be found in any standard Physics objective book.
Also it is usually seen that some students are not able to clear the exam even after taking many attempts and studying rigorously while some crack PMT in their first attempt and that too without much effort.
The reason is very clear. While the former lack guidance and by hit and trial method , they study from whichever book they come to know of, the latter restrict themselves to few but authentic books and with proper guidance and smart & selective study, they come out with flying colours without unnecessary effort.
6. Is it necessary to join a coaching institute for preparation?
It depends upon your way of studying and whether your basic concepts are clear or not . If your concepts are clear and you are smart enough to understand by reading from books directly, then go ahead, study by yourself. After all coaching teachers are no wizards. They cannot wave a moron into a genius! They are only there to teach you, to help clear your concepts; if you can grasp the topic yourself then its sufficient.
However if you are one of those who cannot grasp the concept by directly reading from the book, and are dependent upon teachers, then you can join any coaching institute and attend the classes regularly. Don’t hesitate to ask questions and clear your doubts with the teachers. But please never blindly follow what all they say, the teachers (mostly; however exceptions are there) can teach you but they cannot guide you on how to excel in exam.
But still, I would suggest that it is better to join some local coaching to help you clear your doubts and provide you with basic concepts of the subjects. A little guidance is very essential to prevent you from unnecessarily wasting time reading unimportant facts.
7. Evaluate yourself regularly by taking mock test papers ( with strict examination like conditions)
Is there any need to join any test- series program for this purpose?
If you have enrolled for a classroom contact program, then you should regularly take the topic- wise tests conducted by the institute. But if you have not joined any institute but are preparing by yourself then it would be better if you buy a set of previous year’s question papers of exams than joining any of the costly test series. As it is, these test – series include unnecessary questions in the tests with the sole purpose of attracting more and more students.
Take previous years’ questions and solve a particular paper whose cut-off you know. Keep seated for the entire time limit and simulate the entire environment of the examination hall.
After completing, match your answers and calculate your total percentage. Match it with the cut-off. No test series can give you a better assessment of your ability. Also, while you are analyzing, mention the mistakes and silly errors that you have made in each subject. Solve a paper at least every 2-3 months during your preparation period. Make a note book so that you can have a look at your own analysis. It would save thousands of money spent on futile test series, and I assure you that you would definitely benefit from this.
7. Solve more and more Previous Years papers - You can solve the previous years papers in a way as I have discussed before . Alternatively, to be quick, you can just solve a question and confirm your answer by looking at the answers. If your answer is wrong, go to the solution and look where you went wrong. Don,t forget to mark that question for future reference. While solving biology paper , learn correct answer, mark it and also  jot down few extra points, mnemonics, other related facts/terms that come to your mind at that time after reading that question so that the next time you come across that same question, you can also glance across the other points you noted down yourself. This ensures easy and fast revision and the probability of missing out on topics while revising is also greatly reduced.  In this way, you can use your previous solved paper book for revision just before exam. I had too followed the same approach.
8. Which Books to refer?
There are many books available in the market but none of them tell you exactly what to study and what to not.  None of them tells you which topic is important but in  both books handbook of biology and biology @ your fingertips, which have included only the relevant and important and frequently asked points with an assurance of over 80 – 90% questions in biology from the same books
Prescribed textbook combination
Biology – any textbook ( Trueman) /notes of your coaching institute + NCERT + both of my books (Handbook and Biology @ your fingertips) + Dinesh objective
Till now I have written just two books and I am also working on the text book and an objective book for biology. But this would take time. So, you should buy above books. I also referred to the same books.
Note : this is the ideal combination, which I have prescribed, so if at any stage you are running out of time, you can only rely on my books along with NCERT
Physics – comprehensive / teacher’s notes + A.K Aggarwal objective book or any other book which your teacher has specified or pradeep or universal
Chemistry – Pradeep textbook and P.Bahadur for objective + NCERT
BIOLOGY-NCERT ALONG WITH ANY GOOD OBJECTIVE BOOK.
P.S. – If you have studied any other book instead of what I have mentioned then go ahead with it, no need to waste time studying from a new book.
9. Develop a feeling of healthy competition with your friends. Don’t be jealous of them if    they know more or don’t become complacent if they don’t fare well. Remember, you are not just competing against them but lakhs of other students. Instead of wasting time in gossip, discuss mnemonics, important facts, numericals with friends; it will make memorizing easier and you will also come to learn a lot more new things from them.
10. Fore more tips and suggestions, keep visiting the site. The site is still under construction and still there are many more things to be added.
11. Start studying again. Your target should be to complete the entire syllabus by December and start revising in January or alternatively, you should also revise the syllabus side by side in case you have joined a coaching institute as they usually finish the syllabus by February.
12. Also, keep checking your progress monthly by solving mock test papers as I have mentioned before.
These are a few points which you need to remember before starting preparation for NEET and AIIMS and other medical entrance examinations which you are going to appear in next year. If you have any query, feel free to ask. Wishing all the PMT aspirants all the best!

Aeronautical Engineering is a good choice after 12th: Education & Career.

AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING : ELIGIBILITY & COURSE AREAS

To be an aeronautical engineer one should have a graduate degree (B.E/B.Tech.) or at least a diploma in Aeronautics. The degree and postgraduate degree courses are offered by the engineering colleges and Institutes of Technology (IITs), and the diploma courses are available at polytechnics.
The basic eligibility criteria for a BE / B.Tech is 10+2 or equivalent examination, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and must have a fairly high percentage of marks in the aggregate. One must also pass the qualifying exam JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) conducted by the IIT's.

Selection : Selection to the graduate courses ( BE / B.Tech ) is based on merit i.e the marks secured in the final exams of 10+2 and through entrance exams. Entrance to the IIT's is through 'JEE' (Joint Entrance Exam) and for other institutions through their own separate entrance exams and other state level and national level exams. Most of the institutes conducting engineering courses in Aeronautics consider JEE score as the qualifying grade.

There is also the Associate Membership Examination of the Institute of Engineers (AMIE), which enables working people in the private and public sector, or diploma holders to acquire a Bachelor's engineering degree through distance education by studying the syllabus and appearing for the Associate membership examination of the Institute of Engineers (AMIE) conducted by ASI ('The Aeronautical Society of India'). This degree is equivalent to aeronautical engineering degree. Those with a degree in electronics, mathematics or physics can also find opportunities in this area.
Some Institutes offer postgraduate (M Tech) and Doctoral (Ph D) programmes in Aeronautics. The Madras Institute of Technology offers a three year Graduate Programme in Aeronautical Engineering for B Sc students, subject to their having passed Maths and Physics at the graduation stage. The Indian Institute of Science (IIS), Bangalore has M Tech and Ph D programmes in aeronautics.
Duration : The duration is four years, ending with a degree recognised by the ministry of education, government of India. The diploma courses are of 2-3 years duration.
Personal Skills : Aeronautical engineers should have an eye for detail and be good at problem-solving. They need mathematical precision and design skills, computer skills, and the ability to communicate well. They also need good planning ability and a knack for working under pressure. An aeronautical engineer needs to be physically fit an may need to often work at great speed especially in checking and maintenance of aircrafts during turnarounds. They must have a normal colour vision.

Summary of chemistry paper of class XII - 2013 board exam: chemistry was easy ?

Much to the relief of science students, the Class XII board exam for chemistry turned out to be fairly simple. It had a lot of numerical, and the questions too were directly from the textbooks. Many students submitted their answer scripts much before time. Teachers said it was the easiest chemistry paper set by CBSE in recent times.
By and large, it was an easy paper, and an average student should be able to attempt all the questions without difficulty, according to teachers. "After a long time, we are seeing an easy chemistry paper. Till last year, there used to be some surprises and the difficulty level was much higher. There were no indirect questions this time to pose a challenge. I visited a center where students of three schools were appearing, and they were quite confident of scoring good marks," said the chemistry teacher of a good school.
Well ! this all about previous years examination paper but prepare in deep may be this year you will attempt a strong paper as trend showed by board.

Ultimate success Mantra for selection in NEET/PMT IIT-JEE Examination.

Throughout my knowledge journey of teaching I saw many students having different potential, caliber, psychology, poor to excellent in their academics and I found that nobody can,t relate selection or deselection of any student in competitive examination only by judging their marks.
There are several factors which decides selection in PMT and IIT- JEE  type examinations. One of the common myth is that these examinations are very tough, questions are very complex and hard to crack, that is baseless myth spread by some coaching institute and teachers for sake of their profit. Remember these are only a different type of examination which needs different approach, so many students having average marks get selected in this type of examinations by following right way. there is a list of tips which help you to crack examinations like IIT-JEE, PMT and your class or board examinations. These tips also effective toward a better attitude in life-

Choose to be positive:

"Whether you think you can or think you can,t you are right" - Henry Ford
Get rid of from your negative attitude because your attitude determines every other thing your life. Start think, act positively like I can..., I will... Mark my words your attitude is your best friend and worst enemy.
keep in your memory few wonderful lines just like formula of chemistry which always shows right motivation for competition as well as throughout life-

Thoughts becomes your words.
words become your action.
Action becomes your habits.
Habits become your character
Character becomes your destiny.

Be cool and confident:

The main aim of these type of examination to extract cream layer student, It is not only about to test your understanding and knowledge it is also test of your nerve and confidence. Make yourself like eagle, Eagle is the only bird that flies above the cloud to avoid the rain due to his tremendous confident and calmness. In real life eagles do the same they fly above the negativity.

Take a look on people surround you:

High performance Expert Dr. Dennis said-
"Take a look at your friends and you will see your future"
Several studies as well as common observation shows that you are heavily influences by the people with whom you spend most of your time.Choose people who want to see you succeed in your life and able to helped you to achieve what success you want to your life, It may be your teacher, coach or any family member.
"Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher"- Oprah Winfrey

Start early:

Don,t plan to prepare syllabubs in deep after your school or board examinations. Start early is always increase chances of success it is better if you are in 12th slandered and best if you in 11th. The key to effective preparation is start preparing early. Someone said-
''The early bird gets the worms"

Study plan:

I saw school notes of about every repudiated schools in Lucknow the outcome is very disappointing. Notes are very shallow in concern of concepts and their applications especially in Physics and Chemistry. Most of my students also agree with this fact so what is solution? Give wattage to NCERT books they are like bibles for competition as well as board examination, after completing NCERT books take any of book available in market for practicing MCQs .Clear all your doubts, take help of your tutor, teacher or coach. Develop habits to correlate chemistry and physics together to better understand concepts for example atomic structure is topic of chemistry but for better understanding yo have to know concepts of some physics topics like photo electric effect, black body emission, centripetal force and work-energy theorem.

Time management:

"Accuracy with speed" is one of the key factor for preparation of any exam, start practicing as much as question you can solve with accurately in given set of time. I am not saying to be perfect just want to start doing your best in given time and you get perfection automatically after some time.
"Time is like money - you spend it on your priorities."

No shortcut for success:

Basics are building blocks for concepts and revising things are best tools for learning. Go deep throughout your syllabus and topics, emphasize on tricky problems and start hard work with smarter way with determination. Tips given by teachers are always useful keep them in your mind, never hesitate to take help of your teacher. Make a study plan as per your ease based on strategic planning, determination, hard work, careful guidance and loads of practice.

Equilibrate preparation:

I advocated long sitting preparation for competitive examinations but also placed short gaps and full sleeping hours (7-8 hours). It is scientifically proved that less sleeping than 7 hours can harm your memory and intelligence so make a balance preparation to boost your productivity.

Think big:

As i said earlies think positive and big about you it is just like universal law of attraction it  law states - you attract same thing in your life what you think most of time. Don,t loose hope by small things, bigger dream leads to bigger success, believe on yourself.

Forget Past:

"Leave the past, engage the present and create the future"
Forget about your bad marks, bad memories, negative people, don, allow your past to determine your present and future. Failure is an opinion find the good in every situation

Act in faith:

A man of courage is also full of faith.People who have faith are positive about the future and more happier.People do not have faith in you, until you have faith in yourself. Fear and doubt keep keep the door of life opportunities closed, faith is what kicks those doors open.

"Take the first step in faith, you don,t have to see the whole staircase - just take the first step" - Luther king

"Coincidence is god,s way of remaining anonymous" - Albert Einstine

I hope these lines motivate you in right direction to keep smiling, Don,t let your situation to determine your attitude. Determine your attitude will change your situation toward best. Wish you all the best and great future.
